Is there anyway you can estimate how much a company spends on PPC or Google Adwords?

You can use Spyfu.com or KeywordSpy.com but there based on the idea that “if an advert runs for 80 days out of 80 days then it must be profitable”

However just because an advert runs for 80 days does not mean it’s profitable by itself.

The Advert could be used for branding where the marketer is interested in getting their companies brand in front of potential customers.

Or it could be used as front end lead generator where the ad actually loses money but they make up for it in a back end offer or sales many days, weeks or months down the road.

Also the advertiser could be just nuts and not manage their campaign at all which means it’s all random.

So you have to take these tools with a pinch of salt. Their good but don’t relay on them.

The idea in itself however is sensible. “Model what works instead of trial and error”.

I do not think so without seeing their account information.

There are tools that show what keywords certain vendors are using but they do not show their CPC.

spyfu.com, you can see how much keyword bids are at and what your competitors are bidding/spending.

If you can tell which keywords companies are using and for how long, you just check out the CPC of these keywords at Google Adwords and calculate.
